Metro Bank:

Refining the mobile app experience


Metro Bank is a retail UK challenger bank offering business and personal bank accounts. The overhaul of its digital presence was an essential element of their plan to reach new customers.

I worked as a Product Designer in a cross-functional team of engineers, user researchers, BAs and designers on the design of the mobile app before it launched in early 2017.

The app was launched in under 12 months and has won ‘Best Mobile Banking App’ in the 2017 Moneywise awards.

Accounts and transactions
I redesigned and finalised the structure of the account list and account details by making the designs efficient, consistent, on brand and accommodating supplementary information.

I made general improvements and iterations across the iOS and Android app.



Spending summaries
I explored ways of using the available data to give users insights into their spending and saving behaviour. The designs were used to get stakeholder buy-in and the features were released later.
